Ole Edvard Antonsen (Trumpet)
is one of the world’s leading trumpet soloists and one of Norway’s biggest international stars. His remarkable versatility as a musician means that he is just as much at home working with major symphony orchestras – such as the Berlin Philharmonic or London Symphony Orchestra – as he is collaborating with pop, rock and jazz musicians, such as John Miles. He has played on all of the main music stages in over 40 countries around the world, from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, and also works as a conductor.
Damien Bassman (Percussion)
is principal percussionist of Absolute Ensemble and frequently appears on and off Broadway. Educated at the Cleveland Institute of Music, among others, he embraces the full range of percussion styles and genres. Damien teaches at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City and New York University.
Jan Bjøranger (Violin)
is professor and head of the string department at the University of Stavanger, Norway, alongside a very active career as a soloist, ensemble leader and conductor. Jan teaches throughout Europe and is also Artistic Director of the ensemble 1B1 in Stavanger which received a Norwegian Grammy in 2015.
Paul Cortese (Viola)
is professor of viola and chamber music at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, Spain. Paul is former principal viola of the Gothenburg Symphony in Sweden and a frequent guest principal viola in many orchestras, as well as a sought-after chamber musician. He has recorded numerous discs for solo viola.
Charles DeRamus (Double Bass)
is a member of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and teaches at the University of Gothenburg Academy of Music and Drama in Sweden. Originally from the United States, he has performed, recorded, and toured with major orchestras and festivals around the world. In addition to giving master classes in Sweden, Norway, England, Japan and the US, Charles teaches regularly at numerous chamber music and orchestral festivals throughout the world.
Martin Kuuskmann (Woodwind)
is a solo bassoonist of worldwide renown. He performs with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the New York Philharmonic, among others. Martin has premiered eleven bassoon concertos written for him. He is a founding member and solo bassoonist of Absolute Ensemble, and has taught at the Manhattan School of Music Contemporary Performance Program. He teaches at the Cornish College of Arts in Seattle and in many festivals world-wide.
Justas (Justin) Kulikauskas (Cello)
is a solo cellist of the New Ideas Chamber Orchestra NICO. From age ten he started performing solo with all major orchestras in Lithuania and he is a winner of international cello competitions. Justin is also a songwriter, producer and artist of Hip-Hop/RnB. At the 2012 Boss Championship he was selected as one of eight best loopers in the world. In 2015 Justin released his first cello solo album.
Daniel Schnyder (Composition)
is a composer, arranger and saxophonist in a wide variety of genres and works as a composer in residence, consultant and soloist with many orchestras and festivals. For BYP he composed ‘parkour musical’, premiered in Berlin in 2010. Daniel is in demand as a composer with commissions from the Berlin Philharmonic, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Opera Philadelphia, Dresden Philharmonie, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony Orchestra and many others.
